Hello Mozaic Guardians, Investors and Friends!  

Super excited to be back in your inbox with some of our latest news. We had an amazing summer, between a pilot in Romania, attending The Drop in Malmo, the Nature.. (hm sorry) Climate Week in NYC, design workshops with our partners in Germany, and A LOT of hardcore product development, …. We have much to catch up on!

So, let's get into it. Nature cannot wait.

Highlights (if you're busy stopping Nature loss and can't spare too much time) 

• We locked in some initial funding from Carbon13 to monitor Nature at scale! Press release here. 
• We also ran our first real-life pilot in beautiful Transylvania in collaboration with rePLANET and Fundatia ADEPT. Contact us if you want to know more about our key takeaways! 
• Our world class nature tech team (Christian) shipped the first prototype of our Nature Monitoring mobile application for local Nature Guardians 
• We also built our initial proof of concept of a Nature Insights Dashboard for Landowners, Project Developers, and Impact Investors. Keep an eye out for our full demo next month! 
• We attended The Drop in Malmo, organised by the amazing team at Pale Blue Dot, and Climate Week NYC. We came back from both events with heads full of dreams and partnership ideas across the climate and nature ecosystems 
• And whilst all of this was happening, we won the PLANETech Nature Competition and have been invited to pitch at PLANETech World 2023 Main Event in Tel Aviv (rescheduled to Q1 next year) 
• Finally, we published our new webpage at www.Mozaic.Earth - and we are just getting started. We will add loads more content in the coming weeks and months. So stay tuned!

Fundraising update 

• As mentioned, first funds are in! Big THANK YOU to the Carbon13 team for selecting us as one of 6 investments for them this cohort (out of 25 teams). It is a huge validation that we are not only on the right track, but more importantly that the Nature Tech sector is now open for business! 
• Looking ahead, we will be formally opening our Pre-Seed round in Q1 2024. If you love Nature, have capital to invest, and are looking for a top team to bet on, hit us up!

What we are focusing on next 

• Finalise the end-to-end MVP of our product to be ready for customer deployment early next year 
• Pitch our vision at the Climate Innovation Showcase in Cambridge on November 14^th, 2023 
• Formalise technology and university partnerships to accelerate our growth. 
• Talk to a lot more customers!

• Academic partnerships: We are looking to strengthen our academic partnerships with leading edge University working at the intersection of AI and Nature. If you have any relevant contacts and are ready to provide an introduction, let us know! 
• Angels: If you are (or know) an Angel investor with a passion for scaling Nature-based solutions to the climate emergency, get in touch! 

What is Mozaic Earth (in case your friend asks at dinner): 

• Your friend: "Hey, I meant to ask, what is this Mozaic Earth company that you have been raving about?" 
• You:  I am so glad you asked! Mozaic Earth is a nature monitoring company that empowers indigenous populations and local communities globally, like you and me, to monitor the local nature's health overtime using only smartphones. It is a bit like Uber, but for nature monitoring. Get it?" 
• Your friend: "I get it! They want to activate the sensors that people all over the world have in their pockets to protect Nature… Ambitious! But how do they make money? Nature doesn’t pay…" 
• You: "Well, this is where it gets interesting! Governments and businesses around the world are coming to terms with the fact that we need to start putting a value on the services that Nature provides us (clean air, fresh water, healthy soils,… pandas!).. Mozaic Earth works with those organisations to bring investment to protecting and regenerating nature. What Mozaic is doing will provide the on-the-ground data needed to shift the global economy towards valuing nature. Their work is such a key part of this change.

Nature Knowledge Hub (stuff we read or listened to that we liked and recommend this month): 

• The TNFD released its final recommendations on nature-related issues. This is a critical milestone towards embedding Nature impact and risks within financial and business decision-making.  
• GoodCollective: Using diverse dMRV solutions for Conservation Basic Income. Fantastic work led by Laurent Serota (we are big fans of her :)) and the teams at the Climate Collective and GoodDollar.Org.  
• Climate Tech VC debrief on Climate Week  
• What a carbon credit buyer wants  
• And a bit of a self-interested one here! Can Nature-based solutions be VC backable?
